THE OPPORTUNITY

GBGH is seeking a Director, People & Culture. As our Director, People and Culture, you will play a pivotal role in creating an environment where our people feel valued, empowered, and inspired to deliver personal care. This is your opportunity to lead strategic initiatives through the employee life-cycle that strengthen our culture, foster learning and development, and champion health, wellbeing, and safety across our organization. Reporting to the Vice President, People & Culture and CHRO, this role will be responsible for People Services, Engagement, Development, Safety, Occupational Health, Wellbeing, and HR Systems, Payroll, Staffing and Analysis.  

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the Vice President People & Culture on the development of GBGH’s People Plan
  • Support collaborative and productive labour relations partnerships
  • Lead the creation and execution of a DEIB strategy to ensure an inclusive, equitable, and respectful workplace
  • Integrate DEIB initiatives, resilience strategies, and people centred practices into the organizational culture
  • Oversee the design and implementation of an employee well-being strategy that prioritizes physical, mental, and emotional health while driving employee engagement and retention
  • Monitor the effectiveness of HR programs/systems and recommend process improvements to improve the overall team experience (i.e., best practice, evidence-based, industry standards, etc.)
  • Lead the needs analysis, design and implementation of an HRIS/payroll solution.
  • Oversee creation and implementation of strategies for talent acquisition and retention ensuring alignment with GBGH’s business objectives and culture
  • Oversee the creation and execution of employee development programs, focusing on professional growth, career progression, and leadership development
  • Lead the Compensation and Benefits (CAB) functions
  • Oversee the administration of recognition and rewards programs that celebrate employee achievements and contributions
  • Oversee the administration of HR processes, leveraging technology to streamline operations and improve efficiency
  • Oversee analysis of employee feedback and engagement surveys to identify areas for improvement and develop actionable plans to drive employee satisfaction and retention
  • Oversee and drive staffing, scheduling and payroll to ensure that schedules meet staff and operational needs while demonstrating fiscal responsibility
  • Regularly report key performance metrics, talent management initiatives, employee engagement, and DEIB progress to the leadership team

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Undergraduate education in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Psychology, Education or related field or demonstrated experience
  • Progressive leadership experience in the health care system
  • CHRL designation preferred
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience in HRIS and staffing system design, and implementation preferred
  • Experience with staffing and schedules in health care system
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams to develop solutions to people programs, and services that are focused on experience, service delivery and outcomes
  • Strong business acumen, fiscal awareness, analytical capability, and solutions orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and deliver effective solutions
  • Demonstrated systems thinking approach recognizing impact of decisions on multiple stakeholders
  • High emotional intelligence, especially in navigating heightened and challenging situations
  • Strong understanding of data and ability to use to effect change
  • Passion for Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations and labour relations principles and approaches
  • Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles
  • Excellent clinical, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced working environment
  • Commitment to GBGH Values and Purpose Statement
  • As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position
