Description

The All Nations Hospital Project is an exciting new hospital located on a beautiful greenfield site as part of a large Campus of Care.   The project is being planned in partnership with Kenora Chiefs Advisory, creating a culturally safe hospital environment where traditional healing will be delivered alongside western medicine.

Due diligence is underway as well as coordination of infrastructure with the City of Kenora. Entering the specifications and design stage, the project will be a once in a generation project, eagerly awaited by the residents of the large region we serve.

As one of the leaders in the LWDH Redevelopment Office and an integral part of the overall Project Team and under the direction of the VP Capital Planning, the Project Director, Design & Construction will provide design and technical leadership for the All Nations Hospital Project (ANHP) and work in collaboration with project partners on the related Campus of Care. The Project Director, Design & Construction will bring a broad understanding of site planning, municipal approvals, design, contract documents, procurement, and construction for projects delivered using a collaborative model.

The Director should have a good working knowledge of the policies, procedures, and processes of the Ministry of Health and Infrastructure Ontario with good project and design management skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering where project management forms part of curriculum
  • 10+ years of experience in related field
  • Accredited Member with the applicable Professional Association
  • Significant project management experience as part of a healthcare capital planning project
  • Senior level project planning, development and implementation skills
  • Proven experience in effectively managing diverse teams of project consultants, specialists and user groups
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, results and schedule driven team environment
  • PMP designation preferred upon hire, the successful candidate will be required to obtain the designation if not already completed
  • Knowledge of Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive and guidelines and best practices for construction procurement processes is required
  • Experience with creation of procurement documents (RFQ, RFP, RFSQ) is required
  • Detailed understanding of construction methods and processes
  • Solid understanding of building systems and infrastructure
  • Experience with municipal building permit applications process
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ontario Building Code, CSA Standards and other applicable standards
  • Sustainable Design/LEED experience
  • Commissioning experience
  • Solid understanding of OH and MoH capital project processes
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure Ontario project delivery methods
  • Highly developed influencing, communications and presentation skills
  • Consultation, negotiation and consensus building skills
  • Experience in finding positive solutions to complex issues and problems with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex and concurrent project activities, meet deadlines and manage change is essential
  • Well versed with Revit, AutoCAD, MS Project, SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in a clinical hospital setting is an asset
