As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Critical Care Float Team, supporting the Midland and Georgian Bay area, providing a pivotal role within the patient care team in situations in which the patient's condition is complex and the client care outcomes are not predictable. The RN within the Critical Care Float Team will support both the Emergency Department and our Level 3 designated Intensive Care Unit. Within the scope of practice, the RN promotes health, assesses, and provides care and treatment by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to attain or maintain optimal function for the patient.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:
- Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Must be compliant with College of Nurses quality assurance standards
- Post Graduate courses in Adult Physical Assessment, Respiratory Systems and Cardiology
- Mechanical Ventilation knowledge
- Certified Defibrillation/Pacemaker
- Central line knowledge and skill
- C.A pumps is an asset
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification required
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (A.C.L.S.) certification preferred, required within 6 months of hire.
- Current Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification preferred, required within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years recent, direct Medical/Surgical acute care experience required.
- Coronary Care Course Level 1 preferred
- Coronary Care Course Level 2 preferred
- Wound and burn care an asset
- Neuro Care an asset
- NVCI or equivalent preferred
- Must be able to fulfill all physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with all patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development
- Willingness to participate in process improvement
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting health care environment
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers

- Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles

- As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

COMPENSATION

- Hourly rate of pay $39.07 - $56.00, plus 3-weeks of vacation to start

HOURS OF WORK
Full Time. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
